In a letter to Australia’s Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (PRA), Pfizer said it was considering launching a new treatment for erectile dysfunction in men.
The new drug for erectile dysfunction, Pfizer’s ‘Viagra for Men’, will be available to Australian men by the end of the year. Pfizer said it was seeking approval for a treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension, a rare but severe form of heart failure.
PRA also said it was considering launching an additional treatment for erectile dysfunction in men, a treatment for which the drug is already approved by the PRA. The drug is now available in Australia and will be launched in the United States on July 24.
PRA noted Pfizer’s recent announcement that it would now be selling its treatment for erectile dysfunction in men to patients, rather than the private sector. It also said it would be expanding its sales programme to the United States.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to launch our own treatment for erectile dysfunction in Australia,” Pfizer said. “Pfizer has been in the marketplace for many years and has been trusted in the pharmaceutical industry for many years.”
PRA has a new ‘Viagra for men’ trial which could take place from July 24.
The drug is expected to start marketing in Australia on July 25 and will then be available to men in Australia for over two years.

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) — A Thai man has been jailed after he was arrested for allegedly running an illegal online pharmacy for "pharmacies that sell Viagra," a police official said.
